We chatted to Australian bikini babe Tash Oakley to find out her beauty secrets, and get the goss on her upcoming bikini projects.
How would you describe your style?
Simple, beachy and chic. My style changes depending on where I am in the world, the way I dress in Paris or NYC is very different to how I would in LA, Sydney or the Bahamas. I adjust to my surroundings but believe simplicity is key no matter where I am in the world.
How closely do you and Devin work together on Monday Swimwear and A Bikini A Day? Why do you think your partnership has worked so well?
We live together, work together and are also best friends, it doesn’t get much closer than that! Both of our peronalilties and our friendship values are reflected in our work – people know we are genuine and I think that has been the key to our success! Apart from that, guys and girls alike love bikinis and tropical destinations so I think everyone has their own way of relating to or being inspired by our lifestyle.
Can you talk us through your design aesthetic/process for Monday Swimwear?
Our design process is very simple, it’s based on what we love, what feels good and what is functional. We know that a girl will wear any bikini, in any colour, if it’s comfortable, so our first priority is comfort. Being in bikinis 365 days of the year means we know exactly where swimwear can dig, pull or stretch to create an uncomfortable feeling, we’ve been testing them out our whole lives! The colours we choose are simple, on trend, but most importantly flattering on the skin. We also have small- medium coverage brazilian bottoms which will do wonders for any woman’s buttocks by enhancing their natural shape. We want women and girls wearing Monday to feel sexy and confident in their own skin, comfortable to enjoy the beauty of their surroundings on their day off work or long awaited vacation!
Obviously you spend a lot of time in the ocean and sun. How do you keep your hair and skin looking great? What would we find if we took a sneak peek into your bathroom cabinet?
Moisturising is really important! Finding a facial and body moisturiser to use morning and night should be something every girl does. Also wearing SPF on your face everyday and other measures of sun protection at the beach. My favourite daily essential products are Keihls Lightweight cream, Nivea body lotion, YSL Shocking Mascara and Burt’s Bees lip balm.
What are your handbag essentials? What do you never leave home without?
Headphones, lip balm, a pen, my phone and ipad mini.
