Celeb-favourite Aussie fashion label bassike set to open first US store

Bassike

It’s the epitome of comfortable, luxe leisurewear that looks as much at home in a beachside café as it does a Yin yoga class – and now this celebrity-favourite label is set to be a go-to for the cool kids of Los Angeles too!

Aussie fashion brand, bassike – a favourite with us all here at Sporteluxe, thanks to its soft materials (the signature organic cotton jersey feels divine), simple colour palettes, relaxed fit and edgy design – has announced it’s first step into the global market with a store to open on Lincoln Boulevard in Venice this September.

“Venice has many synergies with Sydney’s Northern Beaches, particularly Avalon which is the birthplace of bassike”, says director Deborah Sams, who co-founded the brand with Mary Lou Ryan in 2006, of the LA beachfront neighbourhood location.

“The Venice community cultivates a really great blend of surf, skate, art, fashion, food and wellbeing, and as somewhat of a lifestyle brand, bassike sits really comfortably in this type of environment,” adds Mary Lou.

While this is great news for LA locals, particularly anyone in the ever-growing ‘Aussiewood’ expat community looking for a little piece of sartorial ‘home’, it also gives travelers another reason to visit that part of the city; the store’s right in the middle of a hotspot for farm-to-table eateries, fashion stories and lifestyle retailers.
