Diet trends: How to choose the right one!

With an abundance of diets fads out there in the form of websites, apps and books, it’s often hard to find the one that’s right for you. We’ve been hearing a lot about the latest high fat and the 5:2 diets and thought we’d get the lowdown on how to wend your way through these trends with the expert advice from Lola Berry!

So what does nutritionist, Lola Berry have to say?

“The best thing about different diets is you get to learn a new set of guidelines and in my personal experience, it’s about taking bit and pieces and making them work for you. There are so many ideas and diets out there that it can get a little bit overwhelming. So my advice would be read about them, if you like the sound and ethos behind it then give it a shot but it’s all about making it work for you, that’s all that matters. Take little bits from each one to make your very own perfect eating plan. That’s what I love to do.

As far as what’s good and what’s not; think whole foods; I’m not a huge fan of any highly processed diets or even those shake diets can often just be a short term fix. Go for anything that’s full of fruit, veggies, meats, eggs, nuts and seeds. Stuff that’s real, not packet fake stuff. A great trick also is to start listening to your body: if you’re hungry eat. When you’re not, don’t. It’s really simple.”
