In a city renowned for its yoga (even the airport has a yoga room!) I knew there would be a plethora of classes to choose from in San Francisco. The rest was a total mystery. I had no expectations. What a great way to travel, as no expectations leads to great surprises. Here’s what I found in my search for fab places to practice yoga, eat clean and chill out.
There are various locations but my favourite was Castro and being led by Jason Bowman. I had heaps of fun in his Friday morning hot vinyasa class.
Get to one of Katie Cosgrove’s classes. She’s a former Flow Athletic teacher and is calm, warm and friendly.
Check out Rusty Wells. As soon as he walks into the room, his energy is so evident. I caught a mid-week lunchtime hour of power class, but I hear his Saturday morning classes are epic.
Ok, so Mexican and vegan aren’t often heard in the same sentence, right? But here they mix together so perfectly. You can almost feel how much love and attention has gone into producing this food. Their devotion to the Earth and the ‘divine feminine’ (as they say on their menu) is all part of their commitment to raising consciousness. I loved it. A must do!
I went to the Wharf location. Two words: breakfast Bowl. YUM. There’s also plenty more to choose from and all looked delicious!
I stumbled across this one in Hayes Valley, housed in this little shipping container. So cool! There are five locations across the city. I had an ‘Aloe Shot’ with aloe, lime and coconut water. Super refreshing and it would be good after a yoga practice. Also tried the pineapple, pear and chia juice which was off the hook!
If you’ve been to the US before, you’ll know that coffee is not really their forte. But San Fran should be excluded from this generalisation. There are some uber cool places to sit and sip including FourBarrel.
If you need to escape the city buildings, be sure to check out one of the various national parks around San Fran.
Amazing Ayurvedic treatments! These guys know what they’re doing. Definitely go there if you’re in the Hayes Valley area and want a good treatment in a cosy environment. I got a ‘repattern’ massage.
