Connie Chapman glows with health. The kind of health which comes from nurturing both your mind and body in equal measure. Which makes sense, really, when you consider this Bondi-based beauty is a life coach, inspirational speaker and writer. Connie spreads her message of empowerment through her events, gorgeous website, online radio show, Awaken Radio and her life-changing program The 90 Day Transformation Project. We’re also lucky enough to share Connie’s wisdom through Sporteluxe in her role as one of our expert contributors.
How do you start your day?
I used to have a strict morning routine but now I allow it to change day by day. I always begin with the age old warm water and lemon combo followed by a green smoothie (which I whip up the night before). After that, I will either choose to practice some yoga at home, get down to the beach for a morning run, or just stay in bed with my journal and some herbal tea.
It means listening to my body and being attentive to how it feels. I eat purely with the intention to feel good and I am really aware of how my body responds to certain food. I think it is about being conscious and present with your body and tuning in to the signals it tells you.
I also feel health is incredibly holistic and extends way beyond what you eat. To me, being healthy is about how you do everything. How you breathe, how you move, how you sleep and how you think. I find positive thinking, plus practices such as meditation and yoga, really slow me down and nourish me from the inside out.
How do you nourish your body?
Do you cook? If so what’s your signature healthy dish?
When I am cooking, I find eggs are often a go-to for me. I love making a healthy, dairy-free frittata. I just simply chop up a whole heap of veggies such as broccoli, kale, zucchini and tomato and throw them it in a baking tray with coconut oil and Himalayan crystal salt. I then whisk up some eggs, pour it on top and whack it in the oven!
Any health secrets you swear by?
I am obsessed with anything green! Since making my green smoothie a daily addition to my diet I have noticed huge difference in my energy levels, hair and skin. I make sure I find a way to add greens to every meal, either by adding a leafy salad or some steamed veggies to every dish. It has made a world of difference to my health and how I feel.
How do you move your body?
I used to be a hard-core gym junkie. But it placed my body under a lot of stress so I now choose softer options. I love running outdoors, particularly barefoot along the beach. Or I love to get to a 90 minute yoga class to help me stretch while also toning.
What’s your fave healthy indulgence?
When I am craving a sweet treat, all I do is mix together a big dollop of coconut cream, some raw cacao powder and a few macadamia nuts. It tastes incredibly decadent, but is loaded with natural, good fats and is completely sugar-free.
Any natural beauty secrets?
Any tips for bringing more balance into your life?
I have a whole tool kit of Zen practices that I draw on when I need them! Meditation is usually my go-to practice and I love to create a really special space by lighting some candles, burning rose essential oil and playing soft music. It makes the whole experience so much more supportive.
For quick tune-ups when I am stresses, I find the power of my breath to be really supportive! So, I will step away from the computer, plant my feet flat on the floor so I feel grounded, and just take five to 10 long, slow belly breaths. I also find curling up on the couch with a soulful book and some herbal tea incredibly comforting.
How do you motivate yourself if you’re ever feeling flat and uninspired?
Working for myself, it can be easy to get distracted and lose focus. When I feel that way, it is often because I am not listening to my body, which is telling me it needs a break.
Otherwise, the thing that keeps me motivated is remembering why I do what I do. I have such a strong passion and desire to spread an empowering and love-fuelled message with the world and I love touching other people’s life with my work. So, whenever I feel flat, I just reconnect to that and it tends to re-ignite my spark pretty quickly. I also have a big beautiful vision board that is filled with images and sits above my desk.
Can you share your healthy address book with us?
- Earth Food Store, Bondi Beach The staff here are so friendly and welcoming. I love popping in for a takeaway green juice or a sugar-free buckwheat muffin (aka ‘Buffin’). There is also a great little organic grocery store attached where you can pick up fresh produce or some healthy staples.

- The Sunday morning 90 minute class is absolute bliss. The studio has such an authentic feel to it. It is kept dimly-lit and is filled with candles and incense. I love it!
- Café Gratitude, Los Angeles
When I travelled through LA I fell in love with the raw food cafés over there. Café Gratitude is an absolute institution and they make the most incredible kale chips, rich cacao smoothies and raw wraps filled with veggies. It has an amazing vibe and is also great for celeb spotting!
Do you have a mantra or favourite quote that resonates with you?
Oh there are so many quotes and mantras that inspire me! I will focus on different ones depending on what I need or how I am feeling.
At the moment, this simple phrase keeps ringing in my mind:
“Be Here Now” by Ram Dass
It reminds me to quit future-tripping or replaying the past. Being present and at peace with where we are in this moment and fully engaged in whatever are doing. To practice this, I place my feet flat on the floor, close my eyes and just say to myself “be here now”. It immediately calms me and brings me back to the present.
Name three things you can’t live without.
Green smoothies, a day without one and I literally have withdrawals. My iMac, as a writer and creative, my computer is the canvas where I work my magic. And candles, I have candles burning all through the day, particularly on my desk when I work. There is something about their soft glow that makes me feel instantly calm.
