The concept of earthing is something of a buzz word the natural health world right now, being advocated by luxe health spas like Gwinganna and paleo devotees. But what the hell is it all about? “Earthing, also known as grounding, is probably the easiest, most readily available health practice out there,” says author and holistic health blogger Jess Ainscough (aka The Wellness Warrior). “All you have to do is find some grass or sand and go barefoot. It’s an instant connection to the earth.”
Fans of grounding claim the earth’s electrons can boost your immune system, help you sleep better and reduce inflammation in your body. However, even if you’re a natural health sceptic, there’s no denying that kicking off your shoes for a barefoot walk is a simple way to reduce stress and help you be more mindful of the present moment.
