In Melbourne for the Australian Open, tennis champion Vika Azarenka was the star guest at a special Nike Training Club event at the Forum Theatre attended by 100 lucky Nike customers. Nike Master Trainer Kirsty Godso got everyone sweating with a workout from the new Nike Training Club app. The sweat session finished off with a fun high energy dance routine that Vika smashed! Both Vika and Kirsty were rocking our fave new season Nike tights, the Legendary Lava Tights, and Vika also took to the stage to share some of her fitness secrets…
How often would you train a week?
“I think it’s exciting to do something every day regardless of what it is,” says Vika. “Just to get out there and keep moving because I think exercise is something that gets you in a better mood. It helps you to balance your day and just get excited and motivated to stay fit and healthy. It’s a lifestyle. So I think you should do something everyday and as much as possible outside. Just go and have fun.”
What’s your favourite type of outfit to workout in, both on and off the court?
“Well on a tennis court it’s a little bit different but for going to the gym, I really love the tights and oversized T-shirts…and I love shorts.”
Can you share some health and fitness advice?
“The night before I just think about what would I like to do in the morning, what would help me to start my day better. I think drinking a glass of water always wakes you up really good and it’s a healthy way to start the day and so it kind of helps you to get moving. That would be my tip. And a smile. A smile really helps.”
