When compared with the control group who performed quite tasks but skipped the meditation, those who Om’d their way through eight hours of meditative deep breathing had less inflammation in their body and improved functioning of their gene-regulating mechanisms.

This exciting research suggests taking the time out for some meditation may help prevent diseases caused by faulty cells. Particularly genes which are currently targeted by anti-inflammatory and pain-relief drugs. Less meds, more deep breathing people.
