Your biological age is different to your chronological age meaning you have the ability to look and feel younger than your drivers license… but this is completely influenced by your lifestyle. Eat processed foods, hate your job and avoid sunshine, sleep and exercise, and you’ll age faster. Do the opposite, and you’ll be younger than your age suggests.

When it comes to slowing down ageing, some plants are more powerful than others. Spinach, kale and lemon are rich in antioxidants, fighting the pathogens that cause ageing. Additionally, they are all rich in vitamin C, which not only prevents disease but also stabilises the structure of collagen, helping our skin remain youthfully firm.

Another crucial mineral that prevents our own deterioration is magnesium. It’s chronically deficient in many people’s diets but rich in leafy greens (such as kale and spinach) and even richer in pumpkin seeds. One cup of this underrated protein source provides your daily requirement of magnesium, zinc and copper, plus a high percentage of potassium and iron. They are also full of essential fats which hydrate skin, preventing wrinkles. In other words, the pumpkin seed should be a staple in your pantry.

1 cup spinach
1 cup kale
1 cup pumpkin seeds
1 tsp spirulina 
1 Lemon
4 peeled dates
1 cup ice
3 cups coconut water

METHOD

Put all ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth.
