“Nut butters should be used all the time in smoothie making, as they provide essential fats and flavour,” says Sarah Cadji, nutrition expert and owner of London cold-pressed juice bar Roots & Bulbs. “They change the whole consistency of the smoothie into a creamy, delightful drink with some bite. Making your own nut butter also ensures that you will always know exactly what has been added to your smoothies. Homemade butters are the real thing, only containing ingredients that will provide your body with the best nutrition.” This delicious healthy chocolate nut butter recipe comes from Sarah’s beautiful new cookbook Pure: Juicing for Life (Quadrille; $34.95) which is filled with health-boosting juices, smoothies and nut milks.
