3 quick fixes for common summer hair troubles

Growing up in Australia, summer has always been my favourite season. It means beach days and short skirts, Christmas festivities and New Years resolutions. In my opinion, everyone looks better in summer (and it’s not because I have my beer goggles on) – tanned legs, smiling faces, fresh skin and light, salty hair.

But this time of year is also one of the harshest to our bodies. Aside from the ‘one too many’ we consume at the Xmas party, the heat and humidity, salt water and chlorine can all be extremely damaging to our hair.

I don’t know about you but I tend to spend the season shuffling from frizzy to dry to all-over damaged hair. So just like I switch up my wardrobe in accordance with the seasons, I also think it’s vital to rotate hair care products to protect my mane against the elements.

I’ve put together my favourite tricks to help your locks stay luscious during this brutal season.

3 easy fixes for summer hair problems

Loreal Hair

Ponytail-induced breakage

On a hot summer day, I’m sure we’re all familiar with that grimy feeling of hair sticking to the back of our neck. Nothing makes me feel so grotty so soon, especially at a chic summer soiree, which is why I love rocking ponytails all season long. However, with constant up-do’s comes dreaded breakage. To keep my hair in tip-top condition I use L’Oreal Paris Hair Expertise EverStrong Strengthening & Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner. This 100% sulphate-free duo helps to reinforce hair fibres for stronger and thicker hair. Also, it helps to use metal-free elastics, like Scunci’s No Damage Elastics as they won’t pull or tangle your hair.

Frizzy Hair

Frizzy, unmanageable hair

There’s no denying that the heat and humidity can make it a bit difficult to rein in frizz. I continue to be plagued by baby curls that nature assured me would disappear once I reached puberty but give me a sticky day and they’ll be out in full force! Want to know my antidote to frizz flaws? Moisture. I suggest trying a heat protect spray such as L’Oreal Paris Hair Expertise SuperSleek Smoothing Blow-Dry Mist, which creates a heat shield to protect your hair from temperatures up to 180 degrees to ensure long-lasting smooth locks.

Flat, lifeless strands

Consistent exposure to the summer elements tends to leave my hair feeling dull and lifeless so I like to give my strands a little TLC by adding a treatment mask to my beauty routine. L’Oreal Paris Hair Expertise EverStrong Strengthening & Repairing Mask Treatment deeply nourishes for softer, healthier, more lustrous locks. Comb through the treatment mask with Mason Pearson’s luxe detangling comb for optimal results.
