After a slightly slow start, the snow is finally falling in on the ski slopes of Australia. No matter where in the country you’re located, if you’re up for a quick weekend getaway or an adventure-packed holiday, we’ve got the retreat just for you.
The fabulous new QT Falls Creek is a premium ski in/ski out hotel destination located at the base of the main ski runs at Victoria’s largest alpine resort, which has over 90 trails catering to all levels, as well as some of Australia’s steepest terrain and cross country challenges. Off the slopes, mountain biking, cycling, hiking, scenic chairlift rides and canoeing are among the many of options available if you want to explore the beauty of Falls Creek and take in the views of the Bogong High Plains and Kiewa Valley.
So before the snow melts away (and we all know it doesn’t last as long as we’d like it to here in Australia), we suggest you check out the QT Falls Creek then literally check in before the season ends.
It’s just a short drive (1 hour and 45 mins) from Albury Airport. We suggest hiring a car that can handle the terrain, like a Hyundai Sante Fe SR, which has plenty of room and and is super stable on the winding roads up to the alpine resort.
It’s one of the most luxurious ski in/ski out resorts in the southern hemisphere. Who hasn’t ever dreamed of skiing off the slope into their hotel rather than catching a bus back to your accommodation, which eats up valuable time you could have otherwise been having fun? There is a dry room at the bottom of the resort where you can store all your equipment, while it dries in time for the next day’s adventure.
We love the ski-inspired spa experiences at QT spa. Catering for the pre-ski warm ups and après-ski recovery, the spaQ menu focuses on rejuvenation, recovery, hydration and rest and is just what you will need after zooming down the runs.
Treat yourself to massage therapy treatments that release tension after a hard day on the slopes. Aching limbs? It’s signature snow-inspired ‘Ginger Bliss Kiss’ or ‘The Snow Queen’ treatments combine exfoliation and massage. Has your face felt the impact from the cold? Then the QT facials are the ultimate in pampering luxury.
Who doesn’t feel ravenous after a day on the slopes? QT’s signature Bazaar restaurant offers a tantalising street-style dining experience. Treat yourself to classic pot roasts and refreshing organic salads that take their place beside pedestals of gleaming seafood, Moroccan spiced lamb shanks, braised beef cheek (our favourite), charcuterie bar, an Asian wok station and expertly chargrilled grass-fed sirloin steak, sliced and prepared to order.
The QT Falls Creek is definitely for lovers of luxury and style. Containing 63 luxury apartments (ranging from one, two, three and four bedrooms) each with prime views over the snow-capped mountains and ski fields. A great way to watch Falls Creek’s famous sunset is from the hot tub on your balcony. The apres-ski cool-meets-designer chic rooms each feature generous queen-size beds, under-floor heating and an outdoor hot tub for most rooms.
