1. HurtLocker

By now, we’ve realised the boxing trend—favoured by VS models as their go-to workout to always be runway ready—is here to stay. But if it’s results you’re after, look no further than HurtLocker. These guys are the real deal, and when they’re not prepping the Miss Universe WA girls to fight for the crown, they’re coaching punters to spar in white collar boxing matches. As you strike, skip, squat and sweat, expect to learn proper technique, be ruthlessly worked and walk away with the self defence skills of a champ. All while stripping body fat, upping your cardio tolerance and sculpting some defined muscle. Not bad for an hour’s workout.

2. Bodyscape Yoga

Yoga for many of you may seem like a constant challenge, and maybe even, a constant struggle. And it sometimes is. I remember every time this comes up, to let my inner world guide me to the progress of any shape. And maintaining the shapes gives me the best access to life force (that thing called ‘prana’). So if you root down, the result is you live. I’m rooting down here, to Earth while holding the truth of connection. A best friend, health, happiness, whatever brings you to yoga, let that connection breed an ability to linger something on to greatness! Stepping into Bodyscape Yoga feels like entering a nurturing, welcoming cocoon. The atmosphere itself strips away the stress and tension of the daily grind, and that’s all before you even begin to get bendy. As you move through the Vinyasa-based practices, which build a true detoxifying sweat, there’s an abundance of healing and restorative vibes. Striking a balance of ancient spirituality and modern world realness, the sessions offer plenty of opportunity for you to deepen your own self-practice and mind-body connection. Built from the hustle of one local girl boss, the studio not only offers intimate yoga sessions, but is also fully stocked up with products from local artisans and companies, including aromatherapy oils, all-natural skincare and yoga accessories. You will likely walk away with more than just open hips!

3. The Pilates Lab Perth

Take one peek at ClassPass’s Perth site and you will see just how much Reformer Pilates studios have boomed around town. With popularity peaking for this lengthening and strengthening mindful method, your best bet for quality instruction and boutique aesthetic vibes is The Pilates Lab. The Scarborough studio (there’s also one in North Fremantle) boasts three bespoke rooms for group reformer, group matwork, barre and Piloxing (ICYMI, that’s Pilates + Boxing) plus a fully equipped 1-1 studio for those wanting to progress their practice further. Light-drenched, plant-filled, kombucha-stocked … this studio is a Pinterest dream, and the instructors are not only some of the best in the biz, but complete smiling assassins. They will make you burn in the way only Pilates teachers know how, all while donning a cheeky grin.

4. Jacob’s Ladder

Ok, not a studio but a serious burn. If it’s a cardio fix with booty building benefits you’re after, you cannot miss Jacobs Ladder in Kings Park. 242 steps (of torture) that reward you with the best panoramic views of the city and iconic Swan River. This HIIT workout will have your heart pounding and calves burning as you (try) to sprint to the top and thighs shaking uncontrollably as you make your way back down, only to repeat it again…and again…and again.

5. Movement South West

Long weekenders did not disappoint!! 👊🏽so great to see the regular visitors in this morning mixing with our members! Yew.

If you’re taking a road trip south to the favoured WA holiday spot, Margaret River, get yourself into a session at The Movement South West. When you’re maxed out on the incredible wineries, cheese and local produce of the region, you can count on the team to provide a killer MetCon circuit or strength and conditioning class. Taking the best of CrossFit and making it accessible to everyone’s skill level, the laid-back and ultra-friendly team will welcome you into the local community, but their no-bullshit attitude and impressive training knowledge will leave you gasping for breath by the end. If you can, haul yourself off the ground and head next door after class to the adjoining studio, Yoga South West, to unwind, stretch out and reach the epitome of Yin + Yang.
