Tash Oakley’s life is a beach, but not in the relaxing way! She’s the co-creator of A Bikini A Day, blogger and designer of Monday Swimwear so she lives and breathes beach chic. We sat down with Tash to get some handy hints on how we can get a bikini body like hers!

How do you start your day?

Emails! Depending on where I am in the world I will usually wake up with 50-100 emails to answer. My mornings, if I am not in meetings, on a plane, working out or on a photo shoot usually consist of content creation, liaising with clients and fans and literally planning our next trips/ moves. When you own your own business you always have something to do, so work keeps me extremely busy. When I am not working, I love to hike, do yoga, workout, go to the beach (would you believe it) or go shopping (also shocking!).

I love fresh food. I will usually start with a flaxseed and berry smoothie in the morning, a salad for lunch with chicken or prawns and then meat or fish with vegetables for dinner. My Australian upbringing is to thank for my natural taste for fresh healthy food. I do splurge with the occasional burger (my latest obsession) or a trip to Max Brenner but generally my diet is well balanced and my portions are enough to fill me up but not too big. Snacks during the day will be nuts, cranberries or a fresh orange, watermelon and pineapple juice for afternoon tea.

Any health secrets you swear by?

Its simple, drinking a lot of water throughout the day is my biggest tip. It helps to flush out your system, keeps me hydrated whilst travelling and keeps my skin clear and glowing. People often don’t realize how important it is to drink 1 – 2 litres a day. Drinking water also helps with a bloated stomach and digestion which is important when you model bikinis for a living!

What’s your training regime like? Can you talk us through what types of exercises you do? What would a typical workout entail?

My workout varies depending on where I am in the world. In LA, I love to do a late morning hike (after emails) or a sunset run/work out circuit or yoga session. In Sydney I love to run the Bronte to Bondi and do a circuit. In cities like Paris I will usually end up in my hotel gym. I prefer the outdoors but you don’t see many people running or working out on the historical intimate streets!

Be Confident, Be healthy, hydrate, know your body angles and which bikinis suits your body type. I always say there’s nothing sexier than a confident woman in a bikini so women should definitely start with loving themselves, embracing their imperfections and never comparing themselves to someone else. BE YOU! Once you feel good about yourself everything else falls into place. Working out won’t be a chore and fronting the beach crowds wont be nerve-racking! Know how your body looks best. Stop slouching and start standing with your hips pushed forward and feet pointed outward on the beach so you have the freedom to enhance your natural figure! Natasha Oakley, Tash Oakley, A Bikini A DayAny tips for bringing more balance into your life? Any daily zen practices and/or how do you chill out when you’re busy and stressed?

Stay positive, everything happens for a reason, things always work out in the end. Anytime I have doubted something in my life, the reason it happened has later revealed itself. Appreciating the little things in life is also important, take time to look at the world around you, compliment or smile at someone. People love to be a part of positive happy peoples’ lives so put out good energy everywhere you go. Recently, I decided to be more positive about planes and airports – I used to dread long flights and security but now I’ve realized I actually enjoy my alone time up in the air – life is what you make it!

How do you motivate yourself if you’re ever feeling flat and uninspired? Any advice for readers?

Hiking or going some where scenic helps me when I feel down. It’s easy to get caught up in the daily grind but there’s a whole world out there that’s amazing and filled with adventures waiting to happen. Everyone needs a reminder every now and then so I think hiking up somewhere high, where you can look over it all and feel like you are part of so much more is inspiring. I also listen to great up beat music, always a pick me up!

What about your travel essentials? If we peeked into your travel bag what would we always find?

Moisturizer, lip balm, pen, neck pillow, eye mask, ear plugs, my laptop, toothbrush, multiple sim cards belonging to different countries and a hair tie (vital).

What are your beach essentials? If we looked into your beach bag what would we find?

Small speakers, a towel, a sarong, Neutrogena Sunscreen, Coconut oil (for my hair), a hat, sunglasses, a book.
