Alo Yoga’s mission is quite simple: to bring yoga to the world. Not only are they a super successful activewear brand (loved and worn by the likes of Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Olivia Palermo), their core ‘Yogalosophy’ focuses on the belief that by spreading the practice of yoga and all its incredible benefits, they are one step closer in changing the vibration of the world.
Their entire business model and company culture aligns with a yoga lifestyle and through embracing mindful movement, cultivating community and promoting wellness—as a brand, they hope to inspire more ‘on the mat’ experiences.
For those of you who aren’t so well acquainted with Alo Yoga, Alo stands for Air Land Ocean. As a brand, they do their best to reduce footprint wherever they can. Their headquarters and Beverly Hills flagship store run on solar power, they have an entirely paper-free warehouse, a second-to-none recycling program and electric car charging stations. Not to mention, their manufacturing and production is 100% sweatshop-free and they use low-water dyes to make their clothing. Employees are treated to yoga classes in the office twice a day and practice Kundalini every Friday to wrap up the week.
Quite frankly, we’re impressed—which is why we’ve asked our friends over at Alo Yoga to share some of their top tips in how you too can practice mindfulness and gratitude during the day for a happier, healthier, more present life:
Write down five things you’re grateful for as soon as you wake up, and make this a morning ritual. Gradually, it’ll help you move through your days with a little more ease.
Roll out your mat and wake up your body with a gratitude-focused flow. (You can stream Alo Yoga’s free 7 Days of Gratitude YouTube video series to get started!).
Set yourself a gratitude reminder when you first wake up, either on your phone or somewhere else in your house. Stay mindful while going through all the motions of getting ready, from brushing your teeth to making breakfast.
Practice more yoga! Not only does the practice help you become more mindful on the mat, but it also helps you achieve this same peaceful awareness off the mat, in your everyday life.
Throughout the day, try to be more conscious of moments when you’re lost in thought and bring your awareness back to the experience or task at hand.
Meditation is also an incredible tool for bringing more mindfulness into your life. Find an app you love or just sit in a comfortable position, close your eyes and focus on your breath. You can repeat a mantra or visualise a few things you’re most grateful for in the moment. Even 10 minutes each day can make a huge difference.
