Watch out Netflix, there’s a new entertainment rival in town… Apple has just announced the launch of Apple TV+, a new video streaming platform.
As original thought leaders in the tech space, it was only a matter of time before Apple came in to disrupt the world domination that is our favourite Friday night go-to.
Apple TV+ has partnered alongside major TV channels including HBO, SHOWTIME, CBS, Starz, Smithsonian Channel, EPIX, Tastemade, Noggin and MTV Hits to offer the one all exclusive app.
Announcing over 100,000 blockbuster videos at launch, the Apple TV+ app will not only cater to all our rom-com needs but be providing ‘original’ inspiring and authentic stories with emotional depth and compelling characters from all walks of life, ad-free and on demand.
Oh and they’ve also brought a star studded lineup on board, with Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Jason Momoa as chief storytellers directing and starring in the original Apple TV+ content.
If that wasn’t enough to make you want to cancel all plans for a weekend of nail painting and binge viewing (all in the name of self-care!), they’ve also launched Apple News+ and Apple Arcade.
For those more into a lazy Sunday read, the Apple News+ app will give US and Canadian app users access to titles from major news publishing houses; Hearst and Conde Nast, offering over 300 mastheads including Vogue, ELLE, The Wall Street Journal and Los Angeles Times, just to name a few.
The Apple News+ app will also intuitively curate personalised article recommendations based on the users reading habits, making for an endless stream of leisurely browsing.
And let’s not forget the gamers. Those who prefer to get lost in an immersive game experience, the new Apple Arcade —a paid subscription service that offers 100 exclusive video games and original releases from world renowned creators will be right up your alley.
With Apple TV+ set to launch in May, the Apple News+ app already available and Apple Arcade rolling out this Spring, there’s still time to schedule a dedicated ‘de-stress day.’
So whether you’ve been saving up for a rainy day, or hanging out for a quiet weekend with a chick flick, Apple just might have given you the perfect excuse. Game on!
