Yoga 213 is unlike any other yoga studio as it combines hip hop beats with vinyasa yoga to deliver a unique, fun workout. We have the low down on the stylish new studio in Melbourne’s inner city suburb of Richmond.
Yoga 213’s founder and director Sammy Veall turned to yoga after suffering third degree burns to 35% of her body and fell in love with the combination of feel good music and free flowing yoga. Originally developed in LA, hip hop yoga may sound contradictory, but in fact it boasts a wealth of health benefits, including improved posture, strength and flexibility.
“Hip hop yoga made me realise that everything was going to ok – it helped me recover from my accident by improving my strength and flexibility,” said Sammy
The new studio, located on Swan Street, boasts stunning natural light in a lofty Californian inspired warehouse space. The interior, designed by Wild Hen Design, features quirky interior elements such as neon signage, vintage surfboards and lots of pineapples.
“More Melburnians are getting into hip hop yoga, which is massive in LA, and are finding the unexpected combination of hip hop music and yoga really addictive. My new Richmond studio is a much bigger, custom designed space which will provide a dynamic environment for more people to enjoy hip hop yoga,” Sammy continues
The new studio will also stock Veall’s fashion-forward active wear range, 213 Apparel, which is designed specifically for yoga.
