To be completely honest, we’d jump on any excuse to pack our bags to visit Big Sur. Boasting breathtaking vistas of the Pacific Ocean and a vast landscape of redwoods, this California gem is a truly magical escape. Luckily, we don’t need to search too hard for the extra bit of incentive. Come January 2016, the Big Sur Forager’s Festival descends upon California’s central coast. A celebration of wild foods with world-class wine and beer, entertainment and expert-led foraging hikes, this festival is not to be missed!
What to expect
The three day festival affords Big Sur area restaurants the opportunity to host the culinary expertise of notable chefs who will be preparing unique fare ranging from rustic to elegant, paired alongside the region’s amazing selection of wine and beer. Guests will have the opportunity to sample these tantalising delights, explore the area and make a contribution to the local community. How so, you wonder? The event also serves as a fundraiser for the Big Sur Health Centre, with the proceeds from the foraging events going towards supporting the continued presence of local health care services.
