The new spin fitness craze is pumping and everyone is doing it. But, somehow running seems to have been lost or forgotten about. According to a recent article in the New York Times, both running and cycling are excellent forms of cardio, but both do have their differences. Running does burn more calories than cycling per minute, but also brings with it more injuries. Often runners suffer from knee pain, shin splints and aching hip flexors from the harsh impact on the ground. Cycling however bears no weight on these areas and is a much better option for people who are more prone to injuries. So which is better? Running is better for cardio, but cycling is better for the joints. Opt for an interval training spin class which will see you get more cardio results out of your cycling.
