Think twice before you next throw that citrus peel in the bin because, apart from being a tasty snack, experts now consider oranges a natural beauty wonder ingredient; extracts can help fade pigmentation, brighten your complexion, clear stubborn blemishes and even reduce oiliness.
This simple, not to mention wallet-friendly, face mask will leave your skin looking refreshed and radiant in no time.
Firstly, you’ll need to prepare the orange peel powder.
1. Wash two oranges in hot water.
2. Peel off the orange rind.
3. Dry the rinds either in the sun for about three days or alternatively bake in the oven at a very low temperature setting until they are completely dry and brittle.
4. Once dry, pop them into your food processor or blender and pulse until they are ground into a powdery consistency.
Next, it’s time to make the mask. You’ll need:
Mix the ingredients into a paste, apply the mask to your face and décolletage, and leave on for 10 minutes (ideally with your feet up and a cup of herbal tea in hand!). It will rinse off easily with warm water and can be followed by your favourite sunscreen (if day) or moisturiser (if night).
