Fitness Brunches Are The New Workout Trend You’re About To Be Obsessed With

It involves your two favourite activities.

It kind of goes without saying that if you’re going to get up early on the weekend to exercise, you’re going to eat a delicious brunch afterwards. Isn’t that kind of the point? Not only is the perfect way to re-fuel after a sweat sesh, it’s also a bit of a bonding activity when you head out for pancakes with the girls from your Pilates class. So, it was only a matter of time before fitness studios started combining our two favourite weekend activities — exercising and eating. Enter, the fitness brunch.

The trend originated in London — where combining yoga with brunch is considered a no-brainer. It’s an observation that led food-obsessed yogi Clem Balfour to create Yoga Brunch Club in 2014.  The organisation runs monthly pop-ups in unique spaces all over London, where an all-inclusive ticket buys you a yoga class, followed by a delicious meal.

Also in London, Equinox Kensington have teamed up with Mondrian Hotel for a series of fitness events — think boxing brunch, barre brunch and hip hop yoga brunch. After you finish your workout of choice, you head up to the rooftop (which boasts one of the best skyline views in the city) for some avo on toast and a cheeky mimosa.

A little closer to home, Sydney Pole has partnered with local cafes (in the inner-city suburb of Annandale) for their Brunch Fit series. Pole dancing isn’t really your thing? No worries! Their brunch classes also include barre, aerial yoga, core, booty blast and stress relief — so there’s something for everyone! You can find out more about Brunch Fit here.

The fitness brunch trend marks a move away from traditional styles of socialising. More and more people are swapping Friday night drinks and burgers with daytime activities that involve getting active and eating healthy. Hopefully this means we’ll see more fitness brunch classes popping up in studios across Australia in the near future!
