“Everyone’s a photographer these days.” We’ve all heard it and most of us have thought it but before you go getting all chuffed with yourself and your insta-worthy pic, there’s someone to thank for your supposed talent: Nick Woodman, the creator of GoPro cameras. Since their launch in 2004, GoPro have made waves around the globe and revolutionised the world of amateur (and professional) photography. What started as a wristband camera for surfers has transformed into a device for documenting and sharing human life – the amazing, the shocking, the inspiring and the mundane experiences we go through everyday.

Launched this year, GoPro Awards was created to inspire and reward the GoPro community for sharing their photos and videos with the GoPro team. An ongoing program, the GoPro Awards will grant up to US $5 million annually to creators of content that emotionally engages, excites and amazes – from the extreme to the mainstream.
