Last week I spent a few days hanging out on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. It’s one of my fave places in Australia and I stayed with one of my fave people in the world, my dear friend Jess Ainscough. I usually try to get up to the Sunny Coast every few months to see Jess and recharge my batteries. As you can probably imagine given she’s The Wellness Warrior staying with Jess is pretty much like going to a health retreat! However, because of all the exciting things that have been happening here at Sporteluxe HQ since our relaunch I hadn’t been since last summer
However, I had a bit of a light bulb moment the other week when I was looking at my jam-packed diary and trying to find a week with nothing on where I would be able to get away. I realised that there is never going to be an ‘ideal’ time to take a few days out. These days we all lead fast-paced lives and have lots of things on the go at once. So you just have to make a decision to prioritise what is important to you and just do it. This goes for spending time with people you love, doing things that bring you joy and taking care of your health.
So I packed my laptop so I could work remotely and off I went. It was awesome. Jess and I went for walks along the beach with her adorable Frenchie Ziggy in tow, meditated, ate lots of nourishing organic food (Jess’ fiancé Tallon is a whiz in the kitchen and Ground Organics is also just around the corner from their house) had soul-nourishing chats and laughed our butts off watching DVDS while eating raw desserts. My idea of bliss! I arrived home in Sydney on Saturday feeling so happy, inspired and full of gratitude. And wondering why the hell I had left it so long between visits!
.Yesterday I had a heap of errands to run, housework to do and emails to catch up on. But the weather was so nice that I decided to put my to-do list on the backburner in favour of a Sunday devoted to wellness. I went down to Bondi to hang with my friend and our Sporteluxe life coach Connie Chapman. We had lunch at Bondi Wholefoods, got a dose of Vitamin D and biophilia by doing the Bondi to Bronte walk then rewarded ourselves with some raw treats and kombucha at Orchard St. Then I headed off to The Broad Place in Paddington for a beautiful meditation meeting and Ayurvedic dinner hosted by our Sporteluxe meditation expert Jacqui Lewis.
The moral of the blog? No matter how ‘busy’ you are there is always time to fit things that nourish your mind, body and soul. The trick is just remembering to make them a priority!
