So you’ve got your daily greens sorted with cold-pressed juice and are all over smoothies. But have you heard about elixirs? Two new organic elixir bars have hit the health scene in Sydney and Melbourne, heralding a new trend in juices and smoothies.
Wondering what exactly an elixir is? Offering a super hit of nutrients with every sip, elixirs are basically drinks infused with medicinal herbs and spices. Adding herbal infusions and spices elevates cold-pressed juices and smoothies to a whole new level with extra health-boosting qualities.
Here’s the lowdown on the two new elixir bars on the wellness block!
Why: Orchard St already has a cult following on the Sydney health scene thanks to their organic juice cleanses and Bronte dispensary. However, they’ve stepped it up a notch with their beautiful light-filled organic Café and Elixir Bar in Bondi. Wellness lovers can enjoy one of a cold-pressed juice elixir or warm elixir crafted by Orchard St owner naturopath and nutritionist Kirsten Shank. There are also delicious organic vegan meals like raw wraps and salads and raw desserts on offer and kombucha on tap! The stylish laidback setting is perfect for a relaxed catch up post Bondi to Bronte or after wandering around the Bondi Markets which are just down the road.
Elixirs that excite us:
All of the Orchard St’s cold-pressed juice elixirs are awesome. However, for something different we’re really digging the warm elixirs that are exclusive to the Elixir Bar. Swap your morning brew for the Spiked and Spiced cold drip coffee with cayenne and cacao. Soothe the senses with the calming Ayurvedic spices in the Masala Milk chai, which comes served with your choice of nut milk. Or ignite your inner fire (and boost your libido!) with the spicy cacao sensation that is Mayan Lover.
Why: Greene St Juice Co has been open less than a week but is already making waves on the Melbourne wellness scene. Juice junkies will love the organic, cold-pressed juice elixirs, which include herbal extracts and spices like ginko biloba, milk thistle, dandelion and green tea for a total body boost.
Elixirs that excite us:
This new elixir bar might be nestled in Melbourne’s stylish Prahan but the menu is inspired by New York icons. The Bronx, is an earthy blend of root vegetables with rosemary and burdock root extracts, known for their detoxifying properties. The Empire State is a simple blend of carrot and green apple, fortified with immune-boosting astragalus.
