Are you a total Wanderlust festival convert yet?
Yes? Well, you’re in good company given the thousands of positive-minded health enthusiasts (including Team Sporteluxe) who’ve turned out to one of the half dozen festivals held in Australia and New Zealand over the past couple of years.
Not a fan yet?
Well, that’s probably because you’ve not yet heard of this international yoga and mindfulness festival brand that’s enormous overseas (especially in the States and Canada, where it started) or you’ve never experienced it. Either way, here’s the best way we can described it: a sea of luxe fitness wear-clad, like-minded, positive-energied folks gathering in what’s usually an amazing location (example, the last Sydney Wanderlust was on Cockatoo Island in the middle of the harbour) to do yoga and meditate, try amazing local and sustainable foods, share stories, listen to speakeasy talks, watch some amazing musical performances, give fun things like stand-up paddle boarding a go, meet new folks and soak up some healthy-living inspiration.
Consider it the Coachella or Glastonbury of for yoga and fitness buffs, fuelled by kombucha and superfood smoothies rather than beer. (Well, there actually is wine and beer at the small Wanderlust Uncorked gatherings, but it’s always of the best craft kind.)
Sounds like healthy girl Nirvana, right?
The great news is there’s another one happening very soon. It’s not too late to book tickets for the Sunshine Coast instalment of Wanderlust being held at Novotel Twin Waters Hotel from Thursday October 15 to Sunday October 18, 2015.
4 reasons Sporteluxe wouldn’t miss Wanderlust Sunshine Coast!
1. You’ll get to rub shoulders with hundreds of amazing people – some famous, some not, some yoga teachers, many yoga beginners. The one thing everyone has in common is a love for healthy living and a being in a pretty fabulous mood because they’re there.
There’s already an impressive line-up: Sneaky Sound System, Janet Stone, Duncan Peak, Amy Ippoliti, amongst others, and entertainers including Donavon Frankenreiter and Wild Marmalade. (Music is the beating heart of this festival – many of the yoga classes feature music by live DJs!)
Hey, we can’t guarantee it, but perhaps you’ll even spot supermodel (and avid yoga enthusiast and teacher) Ashley Hart, who’s the face of major sponsor Swisse Wellness and co-hosted a group of very lucky journalists and bloggers on a Byron Bay trip recently to announce Swisse’s involvement.
2. The super-fun superfood dinner on Friday night. Speaking of amazing people, one of our favourite Sporteluxe contributors (and ladies in general), nutritionist, yoga teacher and best-selling author, Lola Berry, will host an ‘Earth to Table’ dinner on October 18, incorporating superfood products from market-leading supplement brand Swisse Wellness into her own signature dishes. It’s the perfect chance for festival-goers to mingle over mindfulness – and gather some clever cooking ideas. Tickets for the 3-course dinner cost $108.
3. The cool Swisse Sanctuary hub, with on-site smoothie bar and free expert consults. It’s not surprising that a festival brand like this has attracted Australia’s leading wellness supplement company as a partner for the next four years – both Wanderlust and Swisse embrace the latter’s company motto to ‘Celebrate Life Every Day (CLED)’.
The Sanctuary will be a cool place to drop in, grab a delicious superfood smoothie by day or mocktail toward dark, chat to qualified naturopath Toby Hone about cleansing tips and tricks, and listen to Lola’s workshops on glowing skin for spring and how to squeeze more superfoods into your life. It’s just as well the yoga classes are amazing or we’d be tempted to hang here all three days!
4. Did we mention there’ll be some yoga happening? Lots of it. And meditation too. Classes cater for all levels and cover a range of practice styles, from relaxing yin to uplifting vinyasa or even aerial yoga. There’s something magical about hundreds of people doing yoga practice at the same time. Go feel the collective power for yourself!
For more details visit the Wanderlust Sunshine Coast website.
Tickets start at $145 for a single day, ranging up to four-day passes.
WE LOVE: that you’ll get plenty from being there, but be giving back too! A portion of all ticket sales from Wanderlust Sunshine Coast will be donated to the Celebrate Life Foundation, which is Swisse’s philanthropic arm created to help inspire wellness in the community and reverse the growth rate of preventable diseases. Basically, it’s designed to motivate people to live happier, healthier lives. (Our mantra here at Sporteluxe too!)
