By now we all know that adaptogens are incredible for supporting overall health and protecting our bodies from stress and that medicinal mushrooms can help with everything from athletic performance to brain function—but to the beginner, it can all be a bit overwhelming … Where do you even start?
We caught up much-beloved brand Sun Potion to learn more about how to integrate their products (medicinal plants, superfoods and tonic herbs) into everyday life, as well as which potions we should drink for our various ailments.
1So, we know we want to start adding adaptogens and herbs into our morning tonics … but where do we even start? Is there a specific recipe we should always use?
We have organised our home landing page with the most popular products and that is a great place to start. Another way to begin is through Instagram! Our hashtag #apotionaday is about sharing herbs that work for us that day depending on mood and how we feel. Lately, we have been loving Matcha tonics and have a White Dragon Matcha from the mountains of Nara Japan.
Another way to get started is by reading the bullet lists on each product page, designed to help people see the most common uses of the herbs. Our press page also shows hundreds and hundreds of recipes by publications such as Free People blog, Mind Body Green, The Chalkboard Magazine, Free + Native, Conscious Lifestyle Magazine, Elle, Vogue and many more!
2Are there certain products that work better together? Is there a “starter pack” that you’d recommend new clients kick off their exploration with?
As for a starter pack, one can really pick any that speak to them. We certainly have some go-to favorites (which are always evolving) like as Rhodiola, a Tibetan Brain Tonic for promoting metal clarity, focus and energy.
We’re also loving reishi at the moment, the mushroom known as the “Queen Healer” or the “mushroom of spiritual potency” for immune health, supporting mood and stress levels.
Chlorella is a wonderful one to start with and enjoy every day in a glass of water in the morning. Chlorella is a single-celled green algae that may help rid the body of toxins and also support overall well-being in a variety of ways.
Ashwagandha is also amazing for beginning with the herbs and enjoying often. We say, little amounts over a long period of time, that is how adaptogens work! Ashwagandha is a staple of the ayurvedic herbal world and translates to smell of a horse [because it] inspires horse-like vigor and also may promote sound sleeping at night. Some people like this in the evening but also wonderful in a morning elixir.
3OK, so once I’ve picked my herbs, how much and how often do I need to take them to see results?
Mental and Emotional Stress
Illness or feeling run down
Clear skin and glossy hair
Higher vibes all around
