Good Vibes Yoga Studio is a tranquil sanctuary amongst the hustle and bustle of Melbourne. Founded by respected artist Kirra Jamison, the elegant studio offers newbies and devoted yogis the opportunity to further develop their practice within a beautifully designed space.
“I want to create a setting that respects the traditions of yoga, while giving clients and teachers a lovely contemporary space to develop their practice and sense of community,” says Kirra.
With the help of local architect Leo Dewitte and other local designers, Kirra has successfully fulfilled this brief, creating a carefully considered, environmentally sustainable studio. Expect chic blonde timber detailing, lush green plants and dove grey organic linen meditation cushions. We especially love their white hypoallergenic cork floor, which is hygienic, environmentally friendly, warm in winter, cool in summer, and best of all, soft on your joints.
As for the yoga classes, there are a range on offer and the studio acknowledges all eight limbs of yoga: Yama (ethical disciplines), Niyama (self observation), Asana (postures), Pranayama (breath control), Pratyahara (sense withdrawal), Dhrana (concentration) Dhyana (meditation) and Samadhi (a blissful state of joy and peace). They also run a guided meditation class, which is a not-for-profit class with all proceeds going directly to The Gwalior Children’s Charity in India.
Equipped with all the amenities a modern yogi may require, such as showers, hair dryers and natural beauty products, Good Vibes Yoga is definitely worth checking out.
