Live streaming apps are all the rage at the moment and they come in all shapes and forms. We all know these apps are great for streaming and sharing what you do, when you’re doing it but here at Sporteluxe HQ we like to use them the healthy way. Think motivating your friends through sharing your healthy meal, workout plan or a cheeky post-workout snap to get them inspired to get moving. Here are our top picks of apps that allow you to stream live video to your followers and consume content from some of the biggest editorial names out there!

Meerkat

Despite the name, this is not an app that allows you to look at, laugh at and compare Meerkats. This app is the best of two social media worlds, Twitter and Snapchat, allowing you to stream live video to your followers on Twitter. It’s like app-ception! At this stage, it’s only available on iOS devices but they’re currently developing a version for Android. Stream your best burpee to your followers to help them get out of the office and get moving!

Periscope

Periscope is exactly what the name suggests, a looking glass into someone else’s world and a way for you to explore the world through someone else’s eyes. This app lets you broadcast live video to the world, wherever you may be and when you go live, your followers will be notified instantly who can comment and send you hearts in real time. The more hearts you get, the higher they flutter on the screen. Let your friends and family in on your workout to give them some hot tips on how to get the most out of your workout!

Snapchat

Snapchat is one of our go-to apps to send healthy snaps to our friends and family but they’ve just introduced live streaming! Snapchat Discover is a new way to explore Stories from different editorial teams and is totally changing the editorial game, allowing you to view text and video content from CNN, Cosmopolitan, National Geographic and so many more! Get your daily news fix from the Daily Mail or explore the Food Network for some healthy recipes to whip up when you get home!
