Your wedding day: not only is it the happiest day of your life, it’s also the most photographed! So, of course, you’re going to want your makeup to be strong and striking enough that it’s going to show up well on camera. At the same time, the whole point of bridal makeup is to make you feel your most beautiful and confident. So, if you’re someone who usually rocks the au naturel look, you’re not going to feel like you if it’s pancaked on. Plus, the last thing you want is for it to look cakey in person or come off all over your spouse’s face during your first kiss as a married couple!

Thankfully, natural bridal makeup that looks amazing both in person and on camera is a thing. And we figured, who better to share her favourite looks than Casey Gore, one of the world’s leading makeup artists and founder of The Future Mrs, an agency connecting brides-to-be with some of Australia’s best editorial talent (you can read more about that here)?

Here, Casey shares two gorgeous bridal looks you can recreate yourself or hand over as inspiration to your makeup artist.

I absolutely adore this look and it suits everyone. A beautiful coral colour has been used for the eye, cheek and lip. It warms up the skin and gives your face life. If you are cooler in skin tone, try a dusty pink tint instead.  I’ve done a light contour for dimension, soft fluffy brows and glowing skin. This is an absolute favourite for a bride who wants to be quite natural but still look healthy and fresh and lit from within.

Products:
Base prep: Clarins Beauty Flash Balm
Base: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk in shade 2
Blush/Eyes/Lips: Becca Beach Tint
Contour: Nars Irresistiblement Bronzing Powder
Highlight: Becca Liquid Illuminator in Opal
Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil
Mascara: Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Mascara
Lip prep: Lanolips

How to:
1. Start with a freshly washed, dry face and do a light moisturizer. Let it settle, then apply Clarins Beauty Flash Balm as a primer. It gives the skin natural luster and acts as a great primer, making it perfect for shoots or wedding days as it makes the makeup last longer.

2. Apply some Lanolips lip balm on the lips to soften.

3. To colour match foundation I always match to the chest (never the neck). I put 1 pump on the back of my hand to warm up the product and use the Rae Morris Radiance foundation brush — it can do a base in 10 seconds and leaves the skin looking flawless.

4. Apply the Becca cosmetics cheek tint to eyes, lips and cheeks. Curl eyelashes and apply a light coat of mascara.

5. Do a slight contour using NARS Irresistablement bronzer and lightly dust through the hairline for that sun kissed look.

6. Finish off with a Becca highlighter on the high points of the face — the top of cheek bones, down the nose and along the cupid’s bow.

Bridal Smokey Eyes

This eye has a little more depth than a natural eye look but isn’t quite as dark as a normal “smoky eye.” I love this look because we are framing the eyes with deep golds and warm chocolate colours to create something more dramatic but still keeping it beautiful and soft. Because the eye is the main feature we went a lot lighter on the contour and made the skin slightly more velvety rather than super glowy. I kept the lip sheer as well, so as to not to take away from the eyes too much either.

Mascara: Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Mascara
Eyeshadow: Mac Eyeshadow Amber x9 Nine Pallet

How to:
1. Prepare the lids with a sweep of foundation and lightly powder with a translucent powder.

2. Then, go in with a creme eye shadow (a soft gold for this look) before I apply the powder eye shadow over the top. Layering with both a cream based products and powder ensures they both lock each other in for longevity. — a great trick for your wedding day!

3. Remember to be extremely light handed with your products (use a little bit at a time and build up) and start with lighter colours and do darker ones closer to the top and lower lash lines. Also, when working on eyes remember the softer your brushes, the softer the smoky eye looks.
