My Kitchen Rules star Scott Gooding’s trio of paleo superfood smooothies

As a personal trainer Scott Gooding is a passionate about clean eating. Scott is also a big fan of smoothies, both for their nutritional content and convenience. Because we’re all a bit obsessed with smoothies here at Sporteluxe HQ (and we know you are too!) we convinced the Bondi local to share three of his fave smoothie recipes. These delicious creations all feature in the Clean Living Cookbook (Hachette; $29.99), which Scott wrote with his My Kitchen Rules co-star and best mate Luke Hines.  

Kiwi Kale Smoothie

This super go-green smoothie is really refreshing and revitalising. Vibrant in colour and full of texture, it’s a great way to get your daily kale intake.

2 cups chopped kale, stemmed and cut into small chunks

2 kiwifruits, thinly sliced

1 Lebanese cucumber, sliced

½ green apple, cut into chunks

1½ cups coconut milk

½ cup ice

1 teaspoon rice malt syrup

  1. Chuck all of your ingredients into a blender and blitz them until well combined.
  2. Serve chilled in a glass.

Cacao and Berry Smoothie

 Serves 2

 There’s something very alluring about berries and chocolate.

2 bananas (fresh or frozen)

½ cup blueberries, strawberries or other berries (fresh or frozen)

¼ cup cacao nibs

¼ cup raw or activated almonds

2 pitted dates

2 tablespoons hemp seeds

1 tablespoon coconut oil

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a blender with 1 cup of water and process until fully combined.
  2. Serve chilled in a tall glass


The Ultimate Smoothie

 Serves 2

 Smoothies don’t come any better than this. Full of superfoods and so tasty!

2–2½ frozen bananas

½ avocado

¼ cup raw or activated almonds

1 tablespoon chia seeds

4 pitted dates

500 ml coconut water

1–2 tablespoons raw cacao powder (depending on how much you love the taste of


  1. Chuck everything into a blender and process until completely combined.
  2. Served chilled in a tall glass.
