Did you know that your hair primarily consists of protein? It is for this reason that I always encourage my clients to eat lots of quality protein-rich foods to promote healthy hair and a healthy scalp. Because glossy hair starts with great nutrition.
My number one recommendation would be eggs (ideally free-range and organic) as they are rich in biotin and B vitamins which are also great for hair loss prevention. Always eat the whole egg, including yolk, for maximum vitamin intake. Salmon is also great for hair as it is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids.
Sunflower seeds are also rich in protein and full of beauty-boosting nutrients that will nourish your hair from the inside out. These include zinc, selenium, biotin, potassium, copper, iron, B vitamins, vitamin E, magnesium and calcium. They are also high in omega-6 fatty acids. Try eating a handful raw or sprinkling them on salads. Other foods that are great for healthy hair are include beans, berries, sweet potato, dark green veggies and lentils.
