With her half-Indian and half-Australian heritage, this Swedish based leggy brunette is on the rise to supermodel stardom. At the fresh age of 19, Kelly Gale already has an impressive list of achievements under her belt. First discovered at age 13, she began modelling for H&M and has since worked for big names in the industry such as Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld. More recently she was chosen to model for Victoria Secret and is currently the face of our iconic Australian label Bonds. We had the opportunity to catch up with her while in LA shooting the campaign for Bonds 100th birthday. Here’s what she had to say!
How do you nourish your body?
I start my day with a workout, and then for breakfast I make homemade muesli with seeds and nuts, which I add apple and natural yoghurt. For lunch, I’ll eat a chicken, shrimp or tuna salad without dressing and usually have the same for dinner. Or sometimes for dinner, I’ll have an omelette with vegetables. And I always have 30 grams of raw dark chocolate. I eat it everyday; I’m obsessed.
What are some of your favourite fashion labels?
I love Isabel Marant, Balmain, Donna Karan and Alexander Wang.
What are your favourite pieces from the Bonds collection?
Any tips for bringing more balance into your life?
I do a lot of yoga and meditation. I try to meditate for at least 10 minutes every day before I go bed because I feel that it gives me a better night’s sleep.
What are your handbag essentials?
My wallet, my passport, because I never know if I’m going to need it, a bag of nuts, raw dark chocolate, a book, and sunglasses. My handbag is always very heavy!
What are some of your favourite beauty products?
Calvin Klein’s highlighter and bronzer (CK One Color Cream + Powder Bronzer Duo), Chanel eyelash curler, Moroccan oil for my hair, coconut oil, I use that instead of body lotion, and Dermalogica’s Skin Smoothing Cream for my face
Do you have any beauty secrets that you swear by?
I just believe in getting a really good night’s sleep. I try to sleep eight hours every night, and if I get that I always feel beautiful, and my face doesn’t go puffy.
Can you share your top travel destinations around the world?
The Caicos Islands, which is near the Bahamas, is stunning. The water there is crystal clear. I also love Brazil, the people there are super friendly, and the food is amazing. And I love Singapore, for the food and shopping. That’s also where my family used to vacation to whenever we left Australia, so I have great memories from there.
What are your travel essentials?
You’d always find a really good book because I love reading, and it keeps me entertained while I’m travelling. You’d always find a bag of nuts and raw dark chocolate. My phone and a pair of headphones because I love listening to music, and I always bring sunglasses and a bikini, because you never know if where you end up will have a pool.
