Over 4,000 people descended on McKay Field in Centennial Park on Saturday night, all clad in shades of white and cream, for the first Sydney edition of the world’s most stylish secret picnic, Dîner en Blanc. Beginning as a spontaneous picnic for a group of friends at a secret location in Paris 26 years ago, Dîner en Blanc, is now an international celebration of fabulous food and beautiful locations, with 50 events spread over five continents.
In keeping with the Dîner en Blanc tradition, the location of the dinner wasn’t revealed to the thousands of guests, who included some of Sydney’s most fashionable faces, until the last minute. However, when they arrived at McKay Field through a lovely paper bark tree tunnel, they found a pretty meadow with long white tables and an installation of oversized illuminated white rabbits. Dinner, drinks and dancing followed for what was one very stylish and memorable event.
Plans are already in place to make Dîner en Blanc Sydney even bigger and better in 2015.
