Breakfast smoothie

We know you’re as obsessed with smoothies as we are. And we think we may have just stumbled upon the best breakfast smoothie recipe ever! It comes from Sarah Cadji, nutrition expert, founder of London’s cold-pressed juice bar Roots & Bulbs and author the stunning new book, Pure: Juicing for Life (Quadrille; $34.95).  “This is an essential morning smoothie, as it contains raw oats,” explains Sarah. “Remember how good it is to eat your food in its original, raw form? The oats will keep you going until lunchtime, and you won’t crave anything unnecessary during the day. Added to which, the seeds contain lots of protein and the cacao nibs are packed full of antioxidants, both of which you need to kick-start your day.” Sounds good to us!


Serves 2 (250ml each)


230ml almond milk 1 banana, peeled
3 tbsp oats
1 tbsp almond butter
2 tbsp sesame seeds
1 tbsp cacao nibs


1 Blend all your ingredients together
