Having spent a few months living in New York after finishing uni, I quickly became addicted to the NYC lifestyle. You know the one; it’s fast-paced, it’s full on and it’s like nowhere else in the world.
I was there during the coldest of winters, and one thing I remember noticing was the dedication people had to exercise, no matter what the weather forecast was. It would be -14°C (yep, don’t ask me how I survived) and people were running laps around Central Park, walking their dogs on the Upper East Side and frequenting at their local gyms.
There’s no doubt that NYC is one of the ultimate fitness hubs, but since being there almost five years ago now, there has been a plethora of new boutique studios popping up—and every time I come across a new opening or write about a new NYC-based fitness trend, I experience a sense of FOMO all over again.
Luckily for me (and you!), there’s a legendary new fitness platform called JETSWEAT that enables people from all over the world to workout like a true New Yorker, no matter where you’re located.
We recently hailed it as one of the best fitness apps for travel, but it’s also a great tool for when you’re a little closer to home.
Home-based immersive workouts are being named as one of the biggest fitness movements of 2019—and for good reason. You can literally roll out of bed and onto a mat, you don’t waste time commuting back and forth, you can squeeze in a workout before work and because you’re in the comfort of your own home, you don’t need to worry about what you look like (although we do suggest getting out of your pjs!).
JETSWEAT is leading the pack in this movement, having partnered with 20 boutique studios in NYC including big names like Bari, Sky Ting Yoga, Xtend Barre, and modelFIT to offer a wide range of workouts spanning across yoga, running, cardio, HIIT, meditation, dance, barre and even martial arts.
And when we say immersive fitness, we’re just not just talking about following guided workouts on your iPhone, we’re talking feeling like you’re ACTUALLY there via “real studio” experiences shot and created exclusively for those who are tuning in remotely. You can connect to the web platform using a HDMI cord from your laptop to your TV or stream from the app to a TV via Chromecast or AirPlay.
Although there’s something satisfying about getting up, getting dressed and making it ‘to the gym’, something tells us home-based immersive fitness is about to shake things up in a big way. Plus, research shows that immersive fitness experiences can actually make exercise easier, by increasing workout satisfaction and making you feel like you’re exerting less effort!
Not sure about you, but I’ve gotta go get ready for my Xtend Barre class in Tribeca (ha, jokes, my lounge room it is).
