Are you the girl riding the Jet Ski rather than reading on the beach? Then chances are you own a pair or two of JETS swimwear. Renowned for their sexy, sporty designs, JETS have ramped up their athletic-luxe appeal with the launch of a new activewear collection, JETS Active.
The JETS activewear range, which dropped last weekend, embodies the fierce-femme aesthetic the brand is known for; think black bodysuits, mesh panelling, cheeky cut-outs and sexy silhouettes. It’s jam-packed with statement pieces to take you from the pool to Pilates and on to tackle the day.
Ahead of the launch, we spoke to JETS head designer, Jessika Allen, about the hot new collection, what sets it apart from other activewear brands and which celebrity she is crossing her fingers will be wearing her designs…
Sporteluxe: What drove the creation of this new line?
Jessika: “The creation of JETS Active was a natural progression for both myself as a designer and for JETS as a premium luxury swim and resort brand. We have a proven track record in creating high-performance garments that truly fit the woman’s body, which is backed by my love for working with Lycra® and stretch fabrics. Maintaining and celebrating a healthy lifestyle is so important, and to be able to have a hand in supporting this really means a lot to me, as a designer, woman, mother and friend. From the paddleboarder to the Pilates enthusiast, the JETS Active Collection commends an active, healthy lifestyle, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it, encouraging you to live life free.”
“The aesthetic of JETS Active is very much on par with that of JETS Swimwear. Our success over the past 15 years has come from understanding what women want in their swimwear, to feel beautiful and confident, allowing me to design with fit, form and fashion at the forefront. The development of JETS Active as a performance label is an extension of this and true to the JETS philosophy with a commitment to fabrics and function. As for design style, JETS Active is incredibly urban and ultra-cool however it’s designed for real women, which is exactly what we’re renowned.”
Q: Who is the collection designed for and who would you be most excited to see wearing it?
“The JETS Active Collection is designed for the modern woman and the lifestyle she needs in her workout wear. She wants to look good while also wearing garments that perform and support her. Whether her routine is morning yoga, the Bondi to Bronte walk or a high intensity spin class; JETS Active has her back with a sartorial twist.
“As for who I’d love to see wearing JETS Active, domestically I’d have to say Miranda Kerr, Jesinta Campbell, Jessica Gomes, Margot Robbie, Elle MacPherson, Erika Heynatz and Rachael Finch. Internationally the strong and unbelievably sexy Jessica Alba, Jennifer Aniston, Adriana Lima and of course… Beyoncé.”
“The JETS Active point of difference is our innovative sports fabrics and intelligent designs. Inspired by strength and calculated form, the collection has been created with integrity, which means each garment has application of the latest technology, signature design and innovation in fabric development. All wrapped-up in one award-worthy, champion range!”
Q: What is your favourite piece in the collection and why?
“My favourite pieces from the collection include the Textured Print paddle board suit [pictured right] with high neckline, eyelet mesh cap sleeves and side cut-outs, the ultimate statement-maker. As for a look to wear on my weekend walk; the Sports Knit and Leather Look garments are really cool worn together for that texture mash-up. I personally love the Leather Look cropped sports leggings and the sports mesh knit top, giving me compression technology, moisture management and breathability in my workout. If I want to cover-up a bit more then the spray jacket is my go-to, fashionable and functional!”
Q: If you could sum up the overall vibe of the collection in one sentence what would it be?
“Innovative, high-performance and extremely intelligent, JETS Active is sharp-shooting and slick while bringing a fashion edge to the modern woman’s workout wear, giving her the attitude she craves to live life free.”
