Under Armour just unveiled their new innovation hub and design facility, UA Lighthouse, and the activewear company already has an exciting launch in the works.
The Unlike Any campaign features six female Under Armour athletes and shares their unique and remarkable stories. According to the brand, “Through unique collaborations with spoken-word artists, this campaign celebrates the incredible achievements of female athletes that rise above gender comparisons.”
For every athlete included in the campaign, Under Armour created a short film highlighting her incredible skills. Scored with spoken word poetry from some of the most thought-provoking artists in the world—such as Saul Williams—written expressly for this project, the films perfectly encapsulates the beauty, dedication, artistry, and passion that goes into being an elite female athlete.
Each of the women featured had to defy ordinary conventions—both gender norms and athletic perceptions—to become successful, and their determination is exactly what has made them world-class athletes.
“I believe in the power of inner strength and how it can push you to accomplish the seemingly impossible. This campaign is a celebration of the inner strength that lives in every single person. It’s a reminder for every woman out there who feels less than because of unnecessary comparisons, that they are strong, unique and truly Unlike Any,” said ABT principal dancer Misty Copeland, one of the women featured. Some of the other athletes featured include long distance runner and Harlem Run Crew founder Alison Désir, world champion sprinter Natasha Hastings, and two of Under Armour’s newest athletes; professional stuntwoman Jessie Graff, and Chinese taekwondo champion and actress Zoe Zhang (Lanxin Zhang). Additionally, world champion alpine skier Lindsey Vonn’s Unlike Any film will premiere in Fall 2017.
The Unlike Any campaign celebrates the incredible achievements of these women, who’ve gone above and beyond to break the mold in their respective areas of expertise.
