When it comes to anxiety and sleep, along with many other health troubles, CBD oil and other cannabis alternatives have become a common and favorite remedy for many this year. And one company — MedMen — has been taking up the industry by storm by providing products in the growing legal marijuana industry.
Co-founded by Adam Bierman (now the CEO) and Andrew Modlin (the President), the company is on a mission to bring more accessible cannabis solutions to the world of health and wellness.
“This is not about ‘stoner’ stereotypes. It is about people from all walks of life using cannabis to enhance their health and wellness, as a replacement for alcohol and to address things like chronic pain, anxiety and stress.”
“Two-thirds of Americans now live in a state where marijuana is legal in some form so we see marijuana as quickly becoming mainstream,” a MedMen spokesperson tells Sporteluxe. “This is not about ‘stoner’ stereotypes. It is about people from all walks of life using cannabis to enhance their health and wellness, as a replacement for alcohol and to address things like chronic pain, anxiety, and stress.”
Now, with the rise in popularity of cannabis, “CBD-rich products such as edibles, tinctures, lotions and vape pens are the new therapeutic aids,” the spokesperson adds. “These products are changing people’s perceptions about cannabis and MedMen is proud to be part of that change. Our stores carry an assortment of products for a wide demographic, from young professionals to working parents to seniors.”
The company currently has stores in California, Nevada, and New York, with its latest flagship location opening in New York City on Fifth Avenue earlier this year. And the entire open concept — with the entire selection of available products displayed alongside their health benefits — is designed to give users the ease and information they need to make their decision.
“We strive to create a welcoming, safe and secure atmosphere in all of our stores because we believe that shopping for cannabis should be the same as shopping for a bottle of wine or supplement,” they note. “Our stores are bright, airy and open, with plenty of sales associates available to help. We’re changing the way people think about and shop for cannabis, so the communities where we operate are happy to have us because we operate like any other popular professional establishment.”
But for the company, the mission goes far beyond just traditional retail.
“For MedMen, success means making a truly meaningful and lasting impact,” the spokesperson notes. “Earlier this year, MedMen sponsored the largest expungement clinic in LA history, which helped over 800 people clear past marijuana convictions and receive support services through record clearing, felony reduction, expungements and employment services.”
The company also partners with a “Being Alive, a non-profit organization serving Los Angeles County’s HIV-impacted patients to end stigma and remove barriers to care and restoration of dignity,” they continue. “MedMen donates cannabis to HIV/AIDS patients via 120,000 coupons annually as part of an effort to assist the economically disadvantaged, giving them access to medical cannabis.”
Now, with plans to continue expanding their locations (more Las Vegas stores are coming soon), their continued community presence and journey to change the perception of marijuana is just beginning.
