If you’re a fan of the muscle-sculpting perks of Pilates but are looking to take your regime to the next level (and don’t mind sweating it out for an hour or so), check out Speir Pilates.
Since opening last March, this insanely cool boutique fitness studio, founded by Andrea Speir, has taken the Los Angeles boutique fitness scene by storm and shows no signs of slowing down.
While the studio interior has obvious appeal (bright, airy and modern), it’s the muscle-quaking workouts and intimate class experience (there are only eight reformers) that have people coming back time and time again.
There are several classes available —some incorporate elements of elongating barre and core-sculpting reformer work, while others are cardio-based (think burpees, lunges, jumping over boxes while holding weights). While clear directions and fast transitions will make the time go by extraordinarily fast, there’s nothing about these classes that’s easy. Expect to sweat (a lot) and to feel it the next day.
We create our classes based on what you need and what we know you’ll love. We’re admittedly Pilates-crazy but that doesn’t mean we shy away from other effective exercise styles. The workouts are modern, high energy and endlessly creative so you can expect to find barre, circuit, cardio and yoga infused into the workouts – www.speirpilates.com.
And if that’s not enough, you can walk your wobbly legs to the in-house espresso bar or stock up on the hottest activewear at the Carbon38 pop-up post-workout. And then, enjoy the first-class changing room facilities—bliss!
