Spring has sprung and that can mean only one thing: festival season is upon us. But, it doesn’t have to be all about hangovers and boozing.
This year, you can swap queuing for gross toilets for a guided meditation and five-kilometer run (or walk), and give flower crowns a miss in favor of yoga tights.
Wanderlust, a leader in the burgeoning wellness festival movement, brings Wanderlust 108, the world’s only “mindful triathlon,” to Los Angeles this weekend.
Obviously, there’s running involved but there’s also yoga, hula hooping, walking meditation, music, artisanal vendors as well as photography and essential oils workshops and – of course – all the (healthy) food you could possibly eat. In essence, it’s just like the Coachella of wellness. And just like the iconic Coachella skyline, you can expect a Ferris wheel, thanks to the location on the Santa Monica Pier.
On Saturday, April 29, the first leg of Wanderlust 108 will kick off with a 5 kilometer non-competitive run on the iconic Santa Monica Pier to get the blood flowing before diving into a high-energy yoga class from Chelsey Korus. Then, cool off with a grounding meditation led by JoAnna Harper. The beats of DJ Drez will provide the soundtrack to the day’s events.
Over the two days, participants can also try out aerial yoga, acro yoga, hooping, walking meditation, photography or essential oils workshops, or a community yoga experience from local teachers.
In addition, the Kula Marketplace will showcase local craft vendors, including clothing, jewelry, and handcrafted items. Local and organic food vendors will also be on-site, as well as “The Conservatory,” a retail store and juice bar collaboration between Wanderlust and adidas.
Best of all, for every ticket sold, Wanderlust will donate $1.08 to No Kid Hungry to help end childhood hunger in local communities across the United States.
