The opening of men’s grooming lounge, 506, in Sydney’s The Strand Arcade is giving women’s beauty salons a run for their money – and making guys look a whole lot more handsome in the process. Read on for the inside scoop.
Despite male grooming being well and truly on the rise, Aussie men still feel uncomfortable visiting salons. Enter: 506 grooming lounge. Catering specifically to men, the stylish space allows guests to watch movies, listen to music or unwind with a refreshing drink while enjoying a manicure, hot towel shave or facial.
“Men want to look good just as much as women do but can feel intimidated visiting a female dominated salon. We’ve launched 506 to meet the needs of Aussie men who want to look and feel polished without the stigma, ” explains founder Michael Dykes.
The Strand will be 506’s second grooming lounge, following the launch of 506 in Balmain in September and is a subtly, well designed space, using only the highest quality products. From the luxurious feel of the lounge chairs, the oversized massage beds with a larger face hole, right through to scents that are appealing to men, with 506 developing its own unique candle fragrance that fills the lounge, 506 considers all the senses.
The lounge also prides itself on personalised services for guests, such as knowing their favourite drink and having it ready on arrival, or shining their shoes while they receive a pedicure.
In addition to traditional treatments 506 also offers styling, nutrition and personal training.
“Looking good and feeling great isn’t just about what’s on the outside, but what’s on the inside as well. This is why we’ve chosen to take a more holistic view and also offer nutrition and personal training, in additional to personal styling, with a team of specialised consultants,” says Dykes.
So gent’s, we can almost guarantee you’ll not only feel, but look, like a million dollars after a visit to 506.
