When I lived in Potts Point, I used to go to the same café every single morning. It wasn’t just the delicious almond milk lattes and the fact that it was only one street away from home that kept me coming back to The Farm Wholefoods. Their gluten free toast (which I always had with cashew nut butter, banana and cinnamon) was hands down the best I’ve ever had. It was reasonably sized, perfectly moist and it actually tasted like normal bread. When I moved away from the area, I was sad to give up my daily outings to The Farm (although my wallet wasn’t quite as upset).
When I started working at the Sporteluxe HQ, I was excited that I’d only be a suburb away from my favourite café. My dreams were shattered when I discovered it was a good 25-minute walk each way from the office (a bit of a stretch for my lunch break). However, we recently got the chance to try The Farm’s amazing new menu and I have to say my obsession has once again been reignited. It’s time for me to invest in some new running shoes because sprinting to the Farm is about to become part of my lunchtime routine!
The seasonal menu was designed in collaboration with The Brown Paper Bag founder, nutritionist and Sporteluxe contributor, Jacqueline Alwill. We all had trouble deciding what to order because every single thing sounded delish! I eventually decided on the Paleo Fuel breakfast bowl and was not at all disappointed. The dish included sweet potato mash, eggs, cherry tomatoes, bacon, kale and almond pesto and it was the perfect balance between healthy and indulgent.
There were also plenty of bright salad bowls, smoothies, burgers and healthy treats to choose from. All of the menu offerings have a core focus on fresh ingredients that sustain and nourish the body—while still tasting amazing. We each washed our meals down with immunity booster shots—a mix of orange, lemon, turmeric, garlic, ginger and cayenne pepper formulated to ward off those trans-seasonal sniffles!
The café itself is super light and airy and decked out with cute, Scandi-inspired homewares. There’s also a bulk food store up the back where you can stock up on pantry essentials and the odd treat or two (our founder, Bianca, couldn’t resist grabbing some yummy yoghurt-covered macadamias for the road!).
The Potts Point café was the first of three opened by husband and wife duo, Lisa and Josh Thompson, who were inspired by their love of simple, wholesome nutrition. You can also find The Farm in Neutral Bay and the recently opened Cammeray store. They’re set to open three more cafés in the next few months so keep an eye out for The Farm in your local neighbourhood!
