Celebrity chef and paleo diet advocate, Pete Evans, has once again collaborated with Frasers Hospitality with the opening of Asana by Pete Evans in the new Brisbane hotel, Capri by Fraser. And yes, it’s paleo-focused.
I was lucky enough to attend the launch and experience Asana first hand. From the fresh and delicious cuisine, cracking wine list to the cool and modern décor, my expectations were exceeded two-fold.
Nestled in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, Asana is designed with a health conscious traveller in mind and boasts a menu with a vibrant and varied combination of Asian and Middle Eastern flavours with paleo diet inspiration.
“I spend about eight months on the road so I know how important it is to find a home away from home and get a healthy meal,” Evans told me. “Most people are conscious about making healthy food decisions and don’t want to compromise, especially when they are travelling.”
Evans also wanted to showcase the best Queensland produce. “Asana produces beautiful food, that is thoughtfully created and leaves people feeling satisfied and nurtured,” he said.
On the opening night, I was spoilt for choice, sampling everything from olives to perfectly cooked barramundi with a silky smooth sweet potato puree and lime and coconut sauce. The raw zucchini lasagne with cashew cheese, olives and heirloom tomatoes was also a close contender for top spot, along with the not-to-be-missed ginger braised short rib with crisp Asian greens.
Oh and dessert, where do I begin?! The delectable coconut panna cotta with seasonal fruits was a hit, as was the paleo tiramisu.
So whether you’re a traveller or local in Brisbane, a fine dining foodie or just someone wanting to sample something deliciously healthy, Asana by Pete Evans is definitely worth a visit.
