This week in Wellness Watch we’re grabbing tickets for YogaFest, training for the Sydney Harbour 10K and keeping the kids busy and active this school holidays with the new Fitness First Kids program.
Need something to keep the kids busy during the school holidays? Fitness First is launching a new program, Fitness First Kids which offers specially-designed fitness classes for children aged three to 12. Developed in consultation with the Sports Science Education Institute, it’s all about teaching kids the importance of forming healthy habits and having fun with fitness. Featuring fun moves and music, each 45 minute Fitness First Kids class combines elements of cardio, strength, dance, balance, stability, speed, relaxation and stretching. A great idea when you consider that a recent report shockingly revealed that over 80% of Aussie kids aren’t getting enough exercise! Fitness First Kids launches on 14 July and will initially roll-out at six Fitness First clubs across Sydney: Balgowlah Platinum, Bondi Platinum, Castle Hill, Chatswood Platinum, Randwick and Sylvania.
Yogis unite! Grab your tickets for next weekend’s YogaFest in Brisbane on 12-13 July. Expect two days of yoga, market stalls, music, dance workshops and healthy food and drink stalls. All-in-all the perfect way to deepen your practice, get back into yoga or introduce friends to the wonderful world of yoga.
The Rocks will play host to the annual Sydney Harbour 10K, one of the most scenic runs in Australia, on 13 July. There is now also a 5K fun run, so everybody has a chance to participate in the race. Whether this is your first race, or you’re a seasoned runner, don’t miss the opportunity to run around one Sydney’s most beautiful spots.
